sticking a clove of garlic in my ear

I've come down with a horrible cold. And it's accompanying ear infection. I would stop myself from coughing because the pain in the ear if I did was unbearable.

It's been a week, I've almost given up trying to treat myself, and had plans to go to the clinic this morning. I would have to be prescribed antibiotics.

Unable to sleep, I googled a home remedy. I ended up sticking a clove of mashed garlic into my ear - secured by a bandage. I know, the visual is rather silly.

My ear felt funny for the few minutes. They told us in elementary not to stick anything up our noses or ears, and I did exactly just that. I was scared - but also drugged by the cough syrup. I dozed off for a few minutes, woke up with a nasty cough and *gasp* my ear didn't hurt! The infection was gone!

I coughed all night and my ear stayed silent =)

Apparently, garlic is commonly used as a substitute to antibiotics. It contains lots of allicin, which is some kind of fancy compound that has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties. That's the stuff that cured my ear infection in a matter of minutes.

I have a garlic/olive oil ear oil that I use and it works every time! I've never needed to take the children to the doctor for an ear infection. It is pretty quick, too--within a few hours you are better!
